FAQ’s
How does body language differ across communication styles such as deadpan, expressive, or high-energy delivery?
Different communication styles use different levels of movement, facial expressions, and gestures. Some people move a lot, while others stay more still. What matters most is that every action is purposeful and supports the message. In leadership, body language should match the situation rather than personal habits.
Why is stillness sometimes more powerful than movement in influencing an audience?
Stillness can grab attention and make people focus on what is being said. It often shows confidence, calmness, and control, especially during important or challenging moments. Leaders who remain composed and avoid unnecessary movements are often seen as more trustworthy and authoritative.
What behavioural cues indicate that an audience or team is disengaged?
Signs of disengagement can include less eye contact, slow responses, changing posture, fidgeting, or appearing distracted. These signals often appear before people speak up. By noticing them early, leaders can adjust their tone, pace, or approach to regain attention and involvement.
How can observing everyday human behaviour improve leadership communication?
Watching how people behave helps leaders better understand reactions and emotions. By noticing when people engage, hesitate, agree, or pull back, leaders can communicate more effectively. This helps them respond proactively instead of reacting after problems arise.
