Cred ads- The favourite ones
“Not everyone Gets It” Sounds familiar?
Creating an ad has its own perks and downside. In recent times we have seen some ads been appreciated for their stand and some were forced to pull down their ads due to the content being covered. Ad-making has always been associated with evoking emotions or discussions. Thus when cred started their ‘CRED: Not Everyone Gets It’ during IPL they did the most unbelievable. We all were baffled surprised or even shocked by the recent Cred ads.
In this Cred Ad Campaign, we saw some of the veterans doing stuff which no one could imagine they doing, even in their wildest dreams. The creators of these ads have been very careful of the way these ads turned out to be. The most interesting part of these ads are that the veterans were never given a script. They just acted on whatever they felt like. The makers of the ad are a creative bunch of people from All India Bakchod (AIB), All Things
Small (ATS) and agency DDB Mudra.
Top Five Cred Ads
Below is the COUNTDOWN of our favourite Cred ads from a body language perspective. What and how these evergreen stars build a connect with the audience
Number 5: Bappi Lahiri
Through body language, as humans we give signals to indicate whether we like something or not. Seeing a performance by Bappi da is a treat by itself! When he started signing, the people who were taking the audition indicated their dislike and disbelief. But he was engrossed in his performance that he still continued singing without doing any kind of changes. What could have worked better from a body language perspective for our beloved Bappi da is variation in movements or a little more energetic movements, even if they were wild or haphazard.
Number 4: Alka and Udit
While auditioning Alka and Udit entertained everyone in their signature style. Their body language is relaxed, even when they know what they are singing is very different from their usual content. Their communication with each other and with the camera is managed very well by both of them, which we are sure comes from years of experience of facing the camera, and this works well for the creators of the Ad. What’s really hearty is the way the onlookers on the set – the “media agency team” within the Ad are shown to be reacting to the performance of the singers. Very genuine reactions captured to the right extent in the Ad. In the entertainment however the main message about the product does not seem to reaches across to the audience.
Number 3: Govinda
Govinda gave an excellent dance performance, grabbing attention of everyone. Been an entertainer he did entertain well! The photo taken from the Ad shows one of his dance moves from yesteryears which would be well remembered by the audience, that he uses in this Ad. Great move, no pun intented! This is surely going to help the audience associate a new product now with the dance move of Govinda. But what need to be focused for the ad is not just entertainment but also the content. Also, the “media team” coming up again in this Ad could have done with some different reactions, to add on to the entertainment of the audience. But we see very similar reactions by them as in the Ad above.
Number 2: Kumar Sanu
We all know when it comes to Kumar Sanu he loves to use exact gestures of lyrics while singing. So when he was asked to sell insurance, that’s what he precisely did. Be it indicating “a car” or “heart” he exactly showed through his gestures what he was communicating without overdoing the acting. Also what worked for him he created a connect with the couple and not just one of them. It’s essential as the decision will be made jointly by them. He also thanks again both and not one, once they have taken the insurance. What probably makes this Ad hilarious is the way Kumar Sanu starts selling his product right
after knocking on the door, not even asking to step into the house. Reminds one of the salesman of yesteryears who is no longer visiting us these days! The Ad does make for light- hearted memories!
Number 1: The OGs
Based on the look and feel of the famous band of 90s Backstreet Boys, the creators of Cred ad created their own boys band. Consisting of cricketing legends of 90s namely Venkatesh Prasad, Maninder Singh, Javagal Srinath and Saba Karim. Bringing nostalgia in the forefront for fans, of both the cricketers and the band. The reason it tops our list of ads is that the crickers seem to be natural on the stage as singers! They were actually feeling these emotions while performing – the perfect synchronous movements of all three together, the slow relaxed winking by Ventakesh, the rocking movements of Srinath, and so much more! Either they spent some good time closely watching a boys band, or in their heart of hearts they wished to be part of tha band! These three definitely make it to our top favorite of all Cred Ads.
THOSE THAT DIDN’T QUITE CUT IT
The top few were our favourite of the Cred ads. They were others as well but they didn’t make the cut as words and body language are supposed to be in sync with each other which were not seen in the Ad performances.
For example, Dravid’s body language couldn’t match his role of showing aggression as that is totally opposite of his natural personality. That’s the beauty of body language – it honestly shows what you are thinking and feeling.
